CreaTeME are very proud to continue the collaboration with The Punkt Festival, one of the most significant European festivals for contemporary electronic music. Punkt is renowned for its innovative "Live Remix" concept, where artists perform live remixes immediately following a concert, reinterpreting the original performance in real-time. This approach fosters continuous creation and collaboration, allowing audiences to experience music in a dynamic and evolving context.
For this year’s Punkt festival, CreaTeME is offering an intensive remix workshop week that is open for students at our collaborating universities. The workshop will include three main sessions: “The Basics of Live Remix”, by Peter Baden and Alessandra Bossa, “The Aesthetics of Punkt Live Remixes”, by Tone Åse and festival co-founder Jan Bang. Also included is ”Moreskinsound” by David Toop and Ania Psenitsnikova that explore the idea of sound and silence, movement and stillness as a unified field of action .
The workshop will also include several playing sessions and give access to the entire festival program.

A live remix involves artists creating an on-the-spot reinterpretation of a performance, utilizing elements from the original concert as a foundation. This process offers a fresh perspective on the music, emphasizing spontaneity and innovation.
At Punkt, the artistic significance of the Live Remix concept lies in its ability to transform the festival into a "live laboratory of sound," where performances are continuously reimagined by participating artists.
"The ultimate distinction of Norway’s Punkt Festival is its devotion to the 'instant live remix.' A band’s set can be highly impressive, but when a remixer re-configures that raw matter—speedily improvising with audio samples collected during the prior performance—the results can be staggering."
Previous remixers at Punkt include Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Maja Ratkje, Jon Hassell, Biosphere, Sidsel Endresen, Eivind Aarset and many many more.

Alessandra Bossa is an Italian electronic musician and educator who blends classical, jazz, and experimental music with live electronics. Known for her use of improvisation and real-time processing, she brings a distinctive approach to festivals like Punkt. A PhD fellow at the University of Agder, she teaches Live Electronics and contributes to CreaTeME, helping students explore the creative potential of technology in music.

Peter Baden is a Norwegian composer and performer working across genres, known for his dynamic use of rhythm and electronics. He has written music for theater and installations, and toured widely as a drummer and electronic artist. At Punkt and other festivals, his improvised remixes reflect a hands-on, collaborative approach. He brings this experience to students through interactive workshops focused on live creation.

Jan Bang is a producer and musician, and co-founder of Punkt Festival. He developed the festival’s hallmark Live Remix format, where artists transform performances in real time. Bang has collaborated with key figures like Brian Eno and Jon Hassell, and helped make Punkt a hub for experimental sound. In the workshop, he shares his deep knowledge of sampling, improvisation, and live production.

Tone Åse is a Norwegian vocalist and professor who explores the voice through improvisation and live electronics. Her work challenges traditional roles for singers, blending acoustic and processed sound in real time. She has appeared at Punkt Festival, including a remix of Finity in 2020, and is part of ensembles like Trondheim Voices. Åse brings an exploratory, voice-centered perspective to the remix workshop.

Moreskinsound is the duo of musician David Toop and performance artist Ania Psenitsnikova. Through improvisation, found objects, made objects and space, they explore the idea of movement and stillness, sound and silence, as a unified field of action.
CreaTeME (Centre for Excellence in Creative Use of Technologies in Music Education) is an international hub for innovative, inclusive, and responsible approaches to technology in higher music education. Through artistic research, teaching, and collaboration, CreaTeME explores new ways of creating, performing, and learning music in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
