Pål-Kåres Elektroshop

Pål-Kåres Elektroshop was formed when drummer Pål Hausken and producer/keyboardist/composer, Kåre Christoffer Vestrheim drove a big truck-load of drums, modular-synthesizers, electronics and studio-gear to Vestrheim’s place in rural Østfold, Norway. They cast all musical rules and boundaries aside and got to work with an open mind. The idea of an "electroshop” had long awaited to materialize, but now was the time for the in-demand session musicians to freely explore and make music completely on their own terms.
Pål Hausken began his career in the critically acclaimed trio In the Country who have released 8 albums. He has been for the past decade one of Norway’s busiest drummers. Hausken has toured with an extremely wide range of artists and has left his mark on records with artists such as "Music for a while”, Thomas Dybdahl, Ida Jenshus, Frida Ånnevik, Solveig Slettahjell, Odd Nordstoga and many more.
Kåre Chr Vestrheim was earlier this year nominated once again for the Norwegian Grammy awards as producer of the year. He has been the back bone of the making of successful records with artists such as Highasakite, Odd Nordstoga, Marit Larsen and Motorpsycho, to mention a few. With this new project Vesterheim is finally returning to the live stage again after a long stint as perhaps Norway’s most acclaimed supporting musician.
Within a single week of long and inspired sessions at Vestrheim’s country home in Østfold, the duo’s debut album was created. The sounds of birch wood, creaking doors, birds chirping and golden dust from the spirit of Vangelis paint the colours of their musical environment - all of this while Hausken’s deep drum sound and Vestrheim’s atmospheric synthesizers run like a red line through their musical storytelling.
The album contains a mixture of hushed and contemplative moods, propulsive semi-celestial rhythmic revelations, lo-fi and bleeding edge hi-fi, dark chaotic soundscapes and glorious harmonic expanses. It is a heady and riveting instrumental brew where the mixing ratio of electronica and improvised music is a perfect 1:1.
Pål-Kåres Electroshop’s "Wooden Glory” is released on Hubro label on September 13th, 2019.
